The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) is a public institution of the Government of Catalonia’s Ministry of Culture that looks after the development and the consolidation of the Catalan creative sectors as uplift for its professionalization. ICEC advises and accompanies Catalan companies in their development process in several sectors such as: music, performing arts, visual arts, audiovisual, books and digital culture. It offers grants and financing tools, as well as services for internationalisation, business and audience development.
In the audiovisual sector, we have a brand to promote Catalan audio-visual abroad, Catalan Films & TV, and a film commission, Catalunya Film Commission.
Concerning coproduction, ICEC hasn’t offered any specifically coproduction grant so far, although coproduction agreements are positively valued in the selection process on production grants. For the first time, in 2020 we have launched a NEW GRANT for minority international coproduction, so we cannot provide with data about the results till next year. The total amount allocated for this 2020 grant is 1,2 Million euro (payment in 3 years).

Film i Väst, a leading Swedish regional film fund, has decided to build a database with basic information on available public funding for features, documentaries and TV series in Europe. We have learned over the years that producers, production companies and other funds lack an effective short cut to information at the beginning of the financing process of a project. They have good knowledge of their own territories but have limited knowledge and experience about possibilities in other markets. As co-production between countries and regions is essential to this industry, a simple toolbox like this is most necessary. Find more information about Film i Väst here: filmivast.com.
